A genuine Amphenol RADLOK 8 mm press-lock power connector in red. Built for higher-current applications, this connector is designed to crimp onto 1–2 AWG copper wire using a standard hex hydraulic crimper. The exact wire size is determined by the specific contact variant, but 2 AWG is the most commonly used configuration for this system.

Rated for ~200A+ continuous (depending on cable selection and installation conditions), the 8 mm system is suited for higher load applications and extended cable runs where voltage drop and heat become a concern. This makes it the correct choice for battery relocations, trunk-mounted setups, or any configuration where the factory cable length has been significantly increased.

Wire run length matters. As distance increases, resistance builds in the circuit—leading to heat and voltage drop, which in turn raises the effective demand on the wiring. Stepping up to the 8 mm RADLOK system with larger gauge cable ensures the system can handle that load safely and efficiently.

Installation is straightforward. A hex hydraulic crimper is required to properly secure the terminal—no specialty tooling beyond that. Once crimped, the connector presses onto any compatible 8 mm RADLOK stud and locks in place with firm finger pressure. No exposed terminals, no loose hardware, and a connection that remains secure under vibration.
